Rockslide at Sacred Falls State Park

Tom at the Sacred Falls

Accident Site

A large rockslide from an area the size of a football field occurred at The Sacred Falls on 9 May 1999 (Mother's Day) on the northeast side of Oahu in the Hawaiian Islands. Unfortunately, this rockslide occurred when a large number of people were at the base of the waterfall resulting in the death of eight visitors and injuries to fifty more. The Sacred Falls was closed to the public shortly after the unfortunate accident.

Tom Boster was retained to work on the case in the areas of safety, human factors and warnings. Tom was given special permission to visit the accident site on several occasions and recently testified at trial in Honolulu, HI. The park at The Sacred Falls remains closed to the public at this time.
