"My original career goal was to develop controlled thermonuclear fusion as a new source of energy. As funding for this type of research varied up and down, I also worked on a variety of other fascinating research programs including pulsed x-ray machines, electromagnetic launchers, lasers, and particle accelerators. Building such amazing devices has exposed me to a wide range of engineering disciplines, including mechanical, materials, computer controls, and electric power. I found my diverse background was very well suited for analyzing the range of situations that arise in forensic engineering cases. What I bring to the table is a broad understanding of complex systems along with the ability to explain these complex systems in understandable terms to our clients and in court when it comes to that."As an expert witness and consulting engineer, Dr. Rhodes has worked on a variety of cases including electric shock, injury from electro-mechanical equipment (lifts, cranes, hoists, industrial machinery, and electric doors), product liability, lightning damage, electromagnetic radiation interference and injury, lasers, and patents and other aspects of intellectual property. "I am very excited about joining Boster, Kobayashi & Associates. I had previously worked on cases where the firm also had their engineers involved and I always enjoyed those interactions. When I found out they were looking for an electrical engineer I said ‘this is really a perfect fit.’ It has only been a few months and I am already working on cases involving shocks and industrial machinery." In his spare time Dr. Rhodes enjoys surfing, skiing, and spending time with his two daughters.
