Staff Profile - Ted Kobayashi

 

 

Ted Kobayashi joined the Boster firm in 1985 after completing five years with Field Command Defense Nuclear Agency, four years as Liaison Detachment Commander at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory.  While at the Lab, Ted specialized in theatre nuclear weapons safety, security and survivability.  Concurrently he was a member of joint Department of Energy and Department of Defense Project Development Teams for Army Nuclear Weapons.

Ted joined the Army upon completion of his BS at the United States Military Academy. He later received his MS in Physics at the University of Illinois.  In Korea, Ted served as commander of the 526th Engineer Company, a bridge company with dump trucks, a dozer and 20-ton cranes, in addition to the tactical bridging.  He moved on to serve as Staff Engineer with the US Army Support Thailand.  In this capacity he was involved with the design and construction of major highways and 

Army installations. After a two year stint as a Research and Development Coordinator at the Defense Intelligence Agency, Ted traveled to Vietnam as the Operations Officer for the 554th Engineer Battalion.  Battalion activities included operating a rock quarry, rock crusher, an asphalt plant, and designing and constructing a major highway.

After his return from Vietnam, Ted returned to academia as an Instructor and Associate Professor of Physics at his alma mater, the US Military Academy.  He then assumed responsibility as Deputy Engineer for the US Army Engineer District in Japan involved in a $100 million construction program funded by the US and Japanese Governments.

During his over fifteen-year tenure at Boster, Kobayashi and Associates, Ted has worked on cases involving reconstruction of vehicular accidents, including tractor-trailers, motor homes, bicycles and buses.  He is certified as a building inspector by the International Conference of Building Officials and works on premises liability issues of all kinds, including slip/trip and falls and lighting.

Ted has testified over 100 times for both plaintiffs and defendants throughout California.  He currently holds the office of Secretary of the Society of Forensic Engineers and Scientists.  Ted is one of the most well respected experts in his field, and we are truly fortunate to have him on our team.
